Slurry Wall Foundation Drilling - 12 MSS

12’ Mini Separation Plant

Benefits of efficient bentonite recycling include:

• Efficient and unimpeded production
• Reduced New Bentonite Costs
• Reduced Water Usage
• Reduced Water Hauling Costs
• Reduced Hauling and Disposal Costs of Dirty Fluid
• Reduced Downstream Wear on Pumps, Plumbing, etc.

Multiple slurry wall and foundation drilling contractors are using the Derrick 12’ Mini Separation System for efficient bentonite recycling on a small footprint.

The 12’ Mini System cleans excavated material from the wall or trench at feed rates up to 500 GPM. The system is composed of 8’ wide by 12’ base tank with 3 chambers, a 6x5 centrifugal pump with 50 HP motor and FLC-423 double deck screening machine with ten (10) 4” desilter cones.

Slurry from the excavation process reports to the bottom deck of the FLC-423 screening machine for primary scalping in the vicinity of 20-80 mesh. Underflow from this stage of screening reports to the first chamber of the base tank where the centrifugal pump receives the slurry and feeds the desilter cones at approximately 35-40 PSI. The centrifugal separation extracts the ultra fine sands and silts greater than 25 microns and discharges them out the underflow. The fines are leaving the hydrocyclones at approximately 55 to 60% solids where they are fed to the top deck of the FLC-423 screening machine for further dewatering to a stackable, conveyable consistency. Solids off the top and bottom decks combine into one muck pile for easy disposal.

Ultra fine material not captured by the hydrocyclones reports to chamber 2 of the tank as the “clean slurry” where it will weir over to chamber 3 and then report back to the excavation process.
